He Is Risen!

March 23, 2008
Morning Service

Mark 16:1-14;

The headlines in the local paper this morning read:

·        Brains and Brawn.  A new director for the girls club.

·        Poor wheat harvests mean expensive products.

·        Native leads new program.  Again at the girls club.

·        Gold fluctuation effects seen locally.

These were the headlines in your local paper this morning.  I’m talking front page.

Not one word concerning the most exciting, and world changing event that has ever happened.

THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS OF NAZARETH SOME 2000 YEARS AGO.

IT SHOULD HAVE READ:

TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST:

MILLIONS OF FAITHFUL DISCIPLES WILL BE GATHERING TODAY TO REJOICE, AND PRAISE GOD ALMIGHTY FOR THE WONDERFUL GIFT OF HIS SON JESUS TO OUR WORLD.

JESUS STILL LIVES, AND REIGNS ON HIGH WITH GOD ALMIGHTY TO MAKE INTERCESSION FOR HIS PEOPLE.

Yes, you heard me right, there was a man from Jerusalem called Jesus, the son of Mary, and Joseph, of the household of David.  This man Jesus was said to have been the very Son of Almighty God.  Miraculous events filled this man’s life while He lived.

·        His Mother Mary was a virgin, and she was found with child of the Holy Ghost before her and Joseph ever had a marriage relationship.   “A virgin shall conceive and bring forth a child.”

·        And it was written that this Jesus was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

·        The Son of God with power:  because of all the wonderful miracles that God worked through Him.  He Himself actually raised a dead little girl.  He healed the lame, and caused the blind to see.  YES, HE WAS THE SON OF GOD WITH POWER.

·        According to the Spirit of holiness:  This man Jesus lived a sinless, spotless life in the midst of a crooked, and perverse generation.  A life of dedication, and holiness for all to see.

·        BY THE RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD.    OH MY, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED.

IN JERUSALEM THAT GLORIOUS MORNING OF THE RESURRECTION THE JERUSALEM POST MIGHT HAVE READ SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

JEHOVAH HAS VISITED HIS PEOPLE AT THIS MOST HOLY TIME!

JERUSALEM STANDS IN AWE TODAY!

A MOST REMARKABLE EVENT HAS HAPPENED IN OUR MIDST!

JERUSALEM IS IN AN UPROAR!

THE FEAST OF PENTECOST IS OVERSHADOWED BY JESUS’ RESURRECTION!

OVERSHADOWED, YES!  THE PASSOVER WAS ONLY A SHADOW OF THE TRUE THINGS IN THE HEAVENS, AND JESUS HAS NOW FULFILLED ALL THE TYPES AND SHADOWS.

THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE ARTICLE THAT FOLLOWED THE HEADLINES:

Mar 16:1-14 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.  (2)  And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulcher at the rising of the sun.  (3)  And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulcher?  (4)  And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.  (5)  And entering into the sepulcher, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.  (6)  And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.  (7)  But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.  (8)  And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulcher; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.  (9)  Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.  (10)  And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.  (11)  And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.  (12)  After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.  (13)  And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.  (14)  Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

The reporter might have said:  “As I covered the event of the men being crucified, there was a soldier standing at the foot of Jesus’s cross, and he watched as Jesus’s mother, and friends gathered at His feet, and as Jesus interceded for the multitudes, said “Father forgive them, they know not what they do,”  The soldier commented, “Truly this was the Son of God.”

You know, this reporter believes he was right.  I will seek to learn more concerning this JESUS OF NAZARETH, WHO WAS DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD WITH POWER, ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT OF HOLINESS,

BY THE RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD!!!

Oh, by the way there was only one small link on the ISRAEL POST site this morning that said;

Pilgrims flock to Jerusalem despite troubles.
