Morning Service

Easter Sunday is the day that all Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  It is a day like no other, for it was on this day that God’s perfect plan of salvation was made complete.  Before it occurred everything pointed forward in time to its coming, and since it has occurred everything points back in time to its happening.  This day we celebrate together changed the world as we know it.   The plan was in place in the Garden of Eden.  It continued in a manger in Bethlehem as our God became flesh and lived among us.  Jesus knew that He was born to die for all mankind’s sin.  He told His disciples on several occasions what would happen to Him in Jerusalem

Luke 18:31-34

“Rise Again”

As we read of Jesus’ prayer in the garden, we truly realize the agony He felt of the task that lay before Him.  He even asked His Father “If it is Your will, remove this cup from Me, nevertheless not My will but Yours be done.”  It was that resolve and the power of the Holy Spirit that empowered Him to endure the betrayal, denial, and abandonment of His disciples and to suffer through the beating and mocking that went along with His false trial.  All of this culminated with His journey to Golgotha where He would complete His task.

Luke 23:26-49

“Watch the Lamb”

After the cross, Jesus was buried in a tomb.  A stone was rolled in front of it and guards were placed there to insure no one came and took His body.  The story does not end there.  What happened next is why we gather together today.

Luke 24:1-40

“Because He Lives”

We celebrate Easter as a Christian holiday in which our Savior defeated our greatest foes; sin and death.  My challenge to you this morning is taking this personal.  Jesus did this for “whosoever will” which includes you.  Today the entire world celebrates an event that changed it forever.  The real question we need to answer for ourselves is; did it change me?
